# Line breaks are not working
# Symptoms

When you press Enter to create line breaks in articles, after saving they are removed, and the text reverts to its previous state.

In some cases, line breaks disappear and several sections merge.

# Solution

This behavior is due to the Markdown markup editor - unnecessary line breaks are removed, and only those indents that separate paragraphs of text remain.

The idea is that article authors focus on the structure of the article - where the heading, paragraph, or list is - and the final appearance of the article is determined by the HTML markup, which is generated automatically.

**Quick solution in the current style:** press shift+enter and put a couple of spaces.

### Changing the style through branding

The visual distance between blocks in an article (both before and after publication) is controlled by styles set in CSS and may vary depending on the corporate style (typography in particular). This is done in **Settings > Brand Management > Brand Name**.

For example, at the CSS level, you can adjust the indents inside the list in <theme_css>:

```css
.article-viewer-container ol,
.article-viewer-container ul {
    line-height: 1.5; /* or the value you need */
}
.article-viewer-container li {
    margin-bottom: 13px;
}
.article-viewer-container li:last-child {
    margin-bottom: 0;
}
```
