# Checking Telegram channel: Error: Missing permissions: ['can_read_all_group_messages']
# Symptoms

When checking the status of a Telegram channel, the following message is displayed:

`Error: Missing permissions: ['can_read_all_group_messages']`

`Error: Missing permissions: ['can_join_groups', 'can_read_all_group_messages']`

# Solution

Turn off the 'Private Groups' setting

1. The bot owner must go to [https://t.me/botfather](https://t.me/botfather)
2. Select the target bot (this can also be done through the Botfather app)
3. Go to settings Bot settings > Group privacy
4. **Turn off** the **Group privacy** setting (Turn off) and **Turn on** **Allow Groups**
