#577: When copying text from the terminal, line breaks are not inserted immediately

Отредактирована: сегодня

Symptoms

I copy text from the terminal and paste it into the response editor in Swarmica. Then, I try to split it into paragraphs: I place the cursor at the beginning of the line, press Enter, the cursor blinks and nothing happens. I press Enter a second time and then a line break is made.

At the same time, if I first copy this text into a text editor and then from there into Swarmica, everything works correctly, the line break appears after the first press of Enter.

Solution

Use paste text without preserving formatting using the Ctrl+Shift+V keys

Reason

The terminal emulator places the text on the clipboard as a single paragraph, separated by 'soft' line breaks (soft breaks). With the first press of Enter, the text is divided into two paragraphs separated by a 'hard' line break, visually remaining the same, and only on the second press does another empty paragraph is added, forming a visual indentation.

Like many other visual editors, Swarmica supports two paste modes:

Ctrl+V – with formatting preservation

Ctrl+Shift+V - 'text only' mode, in which the clipboard contents is reduced to plain text with hard line breaks.
